LAC Sclerali

Have you been advised that you're not suitable for regular contact lenses because of a complex optical prescription? Or because of an irregularly shaped cornea or damaged cornea? Have you had laser eye surgery that has resulted in complications? Or do you have dry eyes? If so, large diameter gas permeable lenses, also known as scleral lenses may offer the solution you've been looking for. Scleral lenses vault the cornea and rest on the less sensitive white part of the eye, called the sclera. As a result, they don't move on your eye and offer increased comfort compared to standard sized gas permeable lenses. The tears fill the gap between the lens and the cornea to correct any irregularity in the shape of your eye thereby providing clear, sharp vision. As scleral lenses do not apply pressure on the cornea, they minimize the effect conventional smaller diameter lenses have on conditions affecting the cornea. Scleral lenses are fitted by highly trained contact lens practitioners. Ask us about scleral lenses for clearer vision and improved comfort.
